Autumn

And just like that, it's autumn. From one day to the next we went from wearing t-shirts and flip flops to wool sweaters and slippers with socks. We leapt from summer into winter as one might leap into a frozen pond and with much the same effect—we're suddenly freezing.
This week it was time to turn on the radiators and pull our winter clothes out of storage. For folks coming from temperate California, we have a formidable amount of winter clothing—it took me a full day to re-arrange my closet to accommodate all of the coats. The seasonal clothes swap process involved a great deal of climbing up and down ladders which is probably the last cardio I will see for a while since I plan on leaning into a span of rain that's on the forecast. I have a lot of studying to catch up on (Romanian lessons I'm looking at you) and some books on the bookshelf that are begging to be read by a fire while drinking tea. From now on, the fireplaces will be used for their primary functional purpose of providing heat, not just cozy ambiance.
Fall is gorgeous here but overcast skies don't do much to showcase the stunning colors. Fortunately I snapped a few photos earlier this week before the weather turned gloomy. Below is a small taste of autumn creation on display.

If you live in a place where the leaves are changing color, I hope you're able to step outside and enjoy the yellow, oranges and reds in all their rich, autumnal glory. If you don't have changing colors but you've got rain and cooler weather, I hope you can take some time one afternoon to make a cup of coffee or tea and curl up with a blanket and a good book and embrace the quietness this season brings.

Thank you for reading.
Be well.
