The greenhouse
As if last week's work of jarring food and cleaning Silviu's kitchen wasn't enough, we also built the greenhouse.
So that it doesn't sound too dramatic, I should say that about a month ago a crew came and laid the foundation so a huge part of the work had already been done.

But the house itself still needed to be built, so while I was canning the last of the produce, Mihai was outside helping Gabi, our fabulous contractor, put it all together.

Although our original plan was to have a greenhouse built by late spring, there was just too much else going on and other projects (like getting the container of our stuff) had to take priority. Even though it's a little late, we're happy that it's done so that next spring it will be ready to go.
As is always the case around here, the neighbors have taken a friendly interest in our project, offering suggestions on what we can plant now to give us a little late season harvest. They've also generously given us the fruits of their own garden labors in the form of a blue bucket which for some days felt like the miracle with the fish and loaves. It arrived filled with tomatoes and every time Mihai took it back to its owner, it reappeared with even more produce until our countertops were overflowing.

We feel extremely fortunate to have such friendly, generous neighbors and we're looking forward to being able to repay them with some of the produce of our own greenhouse next year.
I hope you are able to enjoy the season's produce in all its abundance, and that you can share it in some way with friends, family, or neighbors.
Thank you for reading.
Be well.
